Darwin Day: Darwin Distorted—The Misuse of a Scientific Idea
This international “day of science” held on or near the birthday of Charles Darwin will focus on the intriguing topic of eugenics, which 100 years ago attempted to “improve” the human race by manipulating reproduction through science. Dr. Garland E. Allen, a professor of biology at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., will discuss how scientific ideas can be misused, as they were during the eugenics movement.
