(Pittsburgh, PA) . . .The Duquesne University Symphony Orchestra will perform with dramatic mezzo-soprano Marianne Cornetti on Sunday, March 23 at 8 p.m. in the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland, with Sidney Harth conducting.
Cornetti, who graduated from Duquesne’s Mary Pappert School of Music, opened the 2002-03 Pittsburgh Opera Season with Verdi’s “A Masked Ball” in October. Expanding her reputation as one of today’s finest Verdi sopranos, she appeared with the Metropolitan Opera in “Aida” on Nov. 18 and “Il Trovatore” on Dec. 4.
A native of Butler County, Cornetti has performed in Vienna, Rome, Milan, Verona, Genoa and Tokyo, and has also appeared across the United States with the opera companies of Atlanta, Baltimore, Minnesota and Washington.
